Running 220 mi (350 km) from Big Sur, the western edge of Los Angeles County, Los Padres National Forest boasts a wealth of recreational activities for visitors to enjoy. Comprised of streams, beaches, rivers and plenty of wooded area, this two million-acre (809,000-ha) area contains campgrounds, day-use sections, trails for biking, hiking and horse riding, off-road trails and much more.
Located on five of the eight islands, the park consists of 249,353 acres, with over 2,000 plant and animal species. Some of the activities you can enjoy are scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, picnicing, whale and bird watching, and exploring the tide pools. Visitor's center is closed Thanksgiving and Christmas.
The beach is located two miles west of Ventura via Highway 1 and the group camp is accessed through the west end of Main Street in Ventura. Amenities include swimming, surfing, fishing, campsites, guided tours, restrooms, picnic areas and more.

Camino Real Park
Camino offers 38-acres of sport facilities such as basketball and tennis courts, soccer/football fields and softball/baseball fields, as well as children's play areas, barbeque and picnic facilities.

Harry A. Lyon offers tennis and basketball courts, lighted softball and baseball fields, an open grass area and barbeque facilities.
Promenade Park
Found just off of the Ventura Pier and Promenade, this park provides a comfortable spot for soaking up the sun or resting in the shade under a green leafy palm tree. Facilities include restrooms and showers.
Arroyo Verde Park
Arroyo Verde Park offers 132 acres of untouched land with a picnic area, two children's play areas, barbeque areas and hiking trails. There is a $2.00 parking fee on the weekends.
Marina Park
Marina Park is located at the south end of Pierpont Blvd. and features BBQ facilities, sand volleyball court, a hand-launch boat dock, restrooms and play area.
Chumash Park
This six-acre park has barbeque facilites, a children's play and adventure area and a baksetball court.
